About Us
The TRANSCEND Consortium (TRansomics ANalysis of Complications and ENdpoints in Diabetes) is an international research collaboration which was established to advance our understanding of the epidemiology, genetics, pathogenesis, prediction and treatment of diabetes-related complications. It was initiated through support from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council Theme-based Research Scheme. The project was initiated in 2014 and brings together a multi-disciplinary team from different research institutions across the world.
Objectives
- To define the molecular signatory of diabetic cardiovascular and renal complications
- To establish a territory-wide registry and biobank to advance research
- To examine the regulatory role of key pathways in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications
- To translate the discoveries to improve the prediction and treatment of diabetic complications
